Techie Nerdy Blog
I told you that this blog can be quite Random ... and it really is! ... Nerd Alert!
OK, after a few weeks on and off, I managed to install a printer on our parish computer. A simple process you might imagine ... but oh no
so I place this blog on the net just in case it might save someone the hassle I went through ... or to remind myself how it was done just incase I might need it in future
The usual web disclaimer ... I take no responsibilty whatsoever should you follow it! ... but it has worked for us.
We have a Sharp AR-M205 Photocopier which is a relatively old one but it is working and still has a good long life ahead ... hopefully
So if you happen to be looking to be working with a similar system ... and the manufacturers website doesn't have windows 8 drivers supported a work around which might work is to download the vista /7 drivers
Then if they are not digitally signed in device manager ... you will need to install them without the digital signature. To do this you need to do an advanced startup of Win 8 - to do this you need to sign off
Shift and restart
Hit option 7 on restart
Then go to control Panel and Device manager
Have disk and locate the drivers from where you downloaded them.
make sure you install.
and hopefully you now should have a working printer :-)
Update: Windows 8.1 is different! .... aggggh http://revryl.com/2013/08/06/install-unsigned-drivers/
